Come dig through history as you envision the past in the Cu Chi Tunnels. These famous tunnels have become one of Vietnam’s War Memorial Park remaining historical artifact. This two-hour drive takes you 60 km northwest of Ho Chi Minh City. During the Vietnam War when Communist troops (known as the Viet Cong) sought ways to defeat better-equipped American and South Vietnamese soldiers, they spent over 20 years designing a sophisticated underground network in the Cu Chi territory. The tunnels reached 10 meters below ground and stretched more than 250 kilometers.
Despite massive bombings and aerial spraying of Agent Orange over the Cu Chi territory, the U.S. was never able to completely destroy the hiding places. Today, many tourists can visit parts of the tunnels and encounter rooms that were once utilized as hospitals, weapon caches, strategic military meetings, dormitories, and offensive shoot offs. At the end of the visit, test your military shooting skills with an AK-47 or M-16 at the firing range.
The tour provides you a more in-depth knowledge of the Vietnam War and honors the brave men who fought it. It offers fascinating insights of how people lived and survived beneath the ground. On this expedition, we will take you to the less traveled Ben Duoc Tunnels as opposed the tourist-packed Ben Dinh Tunnels, where most tour companies prefer due to the shorter distance. An extra 30 minutes’ drive to Ben Duoc offers more original sights less altered for tourists. This historical visit is for those who not only want to visit the sites but also get a thorough understanding from our international certified English-speaking guide.
Note: In the tight-spaced Cu Chi tunnels, wearing whites meant they would get dirtied. We recommend that you choose dark colored clothing and prepare insect repellant for the tour.
