Bridge Hopping: Dragon Bridge, Han River Bridge, and Love Bridge
Da Nang is known as the city of unique bridges, so the first things to do in Da Nang at night that you should check off is visiting the three most famous bridges around town:
Dragon Bridge
Dragon Bridge has become Da Nang’s symbol in recent years. It was designed to look like a dragon, and true to its name, every weekend at 9 PM, the head of the dragon will “breath” fire and water out for around 30 minutes. The show always attracts hundreds of spectator so come early for a good spot.
Tip: don’t stand near the head, you’ll get wet!
The liveliest areas of Da Nang locate around the Dragon Bridge
Han River Bridge
This bridge was Vietnam’s first swing bridge so it holds significant values in the local’s heart. Each weekend from 11 PM – 12 AM, the middle part of the bridge will swing from one side to the other, creating an interesting sight that you should observe once.
Many hawkers and onlookers gather at either side of the bridge’s foot while it’s turning
Love Bridge
Inspired by the Pont des Arts Bridge in France, this bridge allows love birds to hang padlocks on its railings and take romantic pictures by the heart-shaped red lanterns. It’s only a 5-minute walk from Dragon Bridge so spare some time here to see young local’s dating scene.
Love Bridge’s a common destination for couples
The bridges are within walking distance from each other so you can easily hop from one to the next. We suggest visiting the Dragon Bridge first to see the show, then have a romantic photo-shoot at the Love Bridge. Next, discover the city’s coffee culture by dropping in any of the dozens of cafes on Tran Hung Dao Street, and at 11:30 PM, end the night by seeing the iconic Han River Bridge.
